ABOUT GEN-TO-GEN

The Gen to Gen Foundation (“Gen to Gen”) is a non-profit organisation based in Johannesburg, South Africa with a primary focus on philanthropy, youth empowerment and mentorship, founded in 2023.
Our goal is to support and empower communities through programs aimed at the youth and elderly.

Gen to Gen is founded on the values of unity, societal integrity, respect and humanitarianism. We believe in a culture of harmony, kindness, courage and unconditional love.

We believe that our youth is the heart of the evolution of communities across Africa and the rest of the world, and if given access to the necessary resources, a better future for all will be attained. In order to achieve our vision, we need your time, your voice, and your support.

Our vision is to empower the youth and to give a sense of purpose to the elderly through developmental programmes that foster unity, balance, harmony and sustainable growth in communities.

Our mission is to enhance the realisation of socio-economic rights in destitute communities in South Africa, including the right to food, water, housing, work, healthcare, education, and social security.

At Gen to Gen Foundation, we aspire to enrich societal rights across Africa by 2030, making it a better place for all, with distinct focus on our youth.

OUR APPROACH

Unity is what we call coming together and joining as one cohesive whole. It allows us to achieve something not by ourselves, but with the power of hundreds, perhaps thousands of people, all with something new to contribute.

That means helping and supporting each other in any situation. With a united nation, our strength is multiplied.

Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree with them. It is the foundation upon which interpersonal relationships and personal growth is built upon.

If you have respect for these differences, you will display tolerance for them. That tolerance will not only lead to a level of acceptance within yourself, but you will set an example for others to follow. The more accepting we are as a society, the further we will progress in the right direction.

Kindness, or doing good, often means putting other people’s needs before our own. It creates a sense of belonging and reduces isolation.

Helping others is thought to be one of the ways that people create, maintain, and strengthen their social connections.

Showing kindness to others does not have to mean doing something big or life changing. Often, it’s the smallest acts of kindness that can have the most impact.

PHILANTHROPY

Communities around the globe face complex problems daily – poverty, environmental challenges, lack of access to healthcare and education, and nutrition.

Philanthropy has the power to influence lasting social change. When people come together to help others, whether donating money or time, we’re reminded what it means to be human. And from there, communities grow stronger.

At Gen to Gen Foundation, we believe that uniting to aid those most in need, we will be able to afford those affected an opportunity to their socio-economic rights.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Empowering youth means providing the necessary tools, opportunities, and support to develop a sense of confidence that they will use throughout their lives.

Youth empowerment is a moral imperative and a strategic investment. We help to unlock their full potential. By doing so, they achieve an enlarged level of self-confidence and resilience that will help them reach their full potential.

Through our youth empowerment programs, youth get the ability and opportunity to do better things for themselves, their loved ones and their communities.

MENTORSHIP

Mentors work toward positively impacting the lives of our youth by providing a positive outlook. Empowering the youth makes them more likely to take risks, overcome challenges, and embrace new opportunities.

The mentor can provide unbiased advice or opinions using their relevant knowledge and experience.

Our mentors offer to serve this role because they genuinely want to help the other individual grow and establish a more authentic and personal connection.

PROJECTS

The importance of community engagement has become pivotal for well-functioning, twenty-first century democracies. Constructive relationships between communities and the institutions of government make community engagement not only desirable, but necessary and viable as it is likely to lead to more equitable, sustainable public decisions and improve the liveability of local communities.

Carla de Bruin, founder of Gen to Gen Foundation, is a Human Resource professional with a strong love for people. Her passion not only extends to philanthropic initiatives, but also to the development of our youth. She is committed to empowering the younger generation with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in life.

At Gen to Gen Foundation, Carla leads a team of kind-hearted, dedicated, and empathetic individuals with a passion for caring for others. The team is composed of professionals with diverse backgrounds, including legal and law, marketing, advertising, and project management. Each team member brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the table, making Gen to Gen Foundation a well-rounded and effective organization.

One of the main objectives of Gen to Gen Foundation is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the younger generation. The team works diligently to create initiatives and programs that promote growth and development, including mentorship, career guidance, and educational opportunities.
